Twilight Surreal, an ambient visual piece that captures this uncanny stillness, was created using the AI video generator Pika and the editing tool Clipchamp.
At the heart of the project lies a simple yet intricate concept: the visual loop.
The one-hour immersive video is constructed from six 10-second clips, repeated to form a seamless experience. A key enabler of this looping structure was Pika’s “Frames” feature.
While the AI-generated imagery of clouds and sculptures was captivating from the start, turning them into believable loops took more than just stitching clips together. Simply repeating a 10-second clip 60 times would highlight the moment the video "snaps back" to the beginning.
To avoid this, I used Pika’s ability to set both the starting and ending frames to create a more fluid transition. But an unexpected challenge emerged: when the start and end were set to the same frame, Pika treated it as a still image, resulting in a frozen loop.
After trial and error, I found success by offsetting the loop’s start and end points just slightly—allowing subtle variations to mask the cut and maintain a sense of continuity.
The entire production was shaped by Pika and Clipchamp, with a final emphasis on syncing the visuals with music for a fully immersive result.
